JEFF EASTIN
BIOGRAPHY
Creator and Co-Executive Producer recently named by the Los Angeles
Times as one to watch in the industry, Jeff Eastin is the creator and
co-executive producer of SHASTA, the new hip hop comedy series from Columbia
TriStar Television, airing on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on UPN. After
graduating from Colorado State University with a degree in Journalism, Eastin
landed a position as Director of Photography on two Roger Corman films,
"Lock & Load" and "White Fury," both shooting in
Colorado. Shortly thereafter, he loaded his belongings in a Volkswagon camper
and headed for Hollywood, where he planned to pursue a career in directing.
On the way to L.A., he began writing a screenplay called "Shadow Dancer,"
a thriller based loosely on the Billy Joel song "The Stranger." By
coincidence, the script landed on the desk of producer Zalman King ("Wild
Orchid," "Red Shoe Diaries") who optioned it immediately. Eastin
then wrote a script about a small town hostage situation, which was sold to and
produced by Trimark Entertainment for release this fall under the title
"Held Up". He currently has feature comedies in development with 20th
Century Fox and Warner Bros. The script for the SHASTA pilot was Eastin's first
television script.
